Recent breakthroughs in digital technology have resulted in important advancements in such law enforcement tasks as license plate recognition, fingerprint identification, and electronic citation. Many new technologies are becoming standard in law enforcement agencies across the United States. Today's agencies need not only to be cognizant of developing technology but also to have a working knowledge of what this technology can do for them.
