Mobile training

Replacement vehicle console

Havis-Shields introduces the new 2008 Ford Escape Vehicle Specific Console. This new vehicle-specific OEM replacement console provides a custom professional appearance. The formed steel housing and extruded aluminum top frame are engineered to provide strength for mounting up to 18 inches of emergency equipment. The console precisely fits OEM dash trim and floor shifter. No drilling or modification to the vehicle is required; simply unbolt the OEM console and replace with the C-VS-1800-ESC-1 for easy installation. The console is designed to use existing OEM mounting brackets and hardware.

LED fiberscope

The FreedomView, an LED fiberscope, enables police departments to find illegal drugs and other contraband in homes, cars, and trucks. OPTIM, Inc., has created a hand-held, portable inspection device that combines a high-intensity LED light source with a flexible, pencil-thin insertion shaft that can be immersed in liquids or inserted behind air conditioning vents. It is designed to provide fast and accurate remote imaging, enabling close-up visual inspections in dark, hard-to-reach, hard-to-see places, including car engines, gas tanks, and even kitchen counters.

First responder software package

Total Computer’s Total Enforcement product, an automated computer-aided dispatch/records management/mobile communications solution for law enforcement agencies, can now be purchased as an integrated unit with PURVIS Systems’ FD Manager, an allinclusive software package. As a result of the cooperative effort between the two companies, a municipality, city, or state will be able to implement “best-of-breed” public safety applications with the ability to share information throughout multiple departments. The first initiative of this strategic alliance will focus on the companies’ dispatch applications.

Radio

Tait Radio Communications has introduced a new series of IP67-rated trunked and conventional portable radio solutions with the TP8100 series. The TP8100 series is currently available in both 5-watt VHF and 4-watt UHF versions, with a plethora of complimentary professional-grade accessories. The conventional TP8120 and trunked TP8140 are full 16-key radios, while the conventional TP8115 and trunked TP8135 radios come with limited keypads. These four products come with a 24-character LCD display screen, user-friendly Windows programming software, and a 2,000-mAh lithium ion battery.

Floodlight balloon

Powermoon Enterprises, Ltd., has announced the availability of its patented Powermoon Floodlight Balloons. Powermoon is designed for nighttime use where high illumination with minimal glare and reduced shadows is a requirement. Weighing just 18 pounds, Powermoon utilizes halogen or metal bulbs for illumination, can be set up within 20 seconds, and operates using a small portable generator or 100-volt power source. Designed to be weatherproof and resistant to winds up to 70 miles per hour, it has been successfully used in a wide range of nighttime fire, police, and rescue applications.

Training guide

Support Law Enforcement’s training guide Strengthening Law Enforcement Communities provides practical guidance for agencies to develop a support structure for their communities. Agencies should help cultivate support structures for law enforcement officers (their organization’s primary asset) and their families. The industry provides many challenges not unlike those experienced in a military profession. The goal of this training program is to help agencies positively affect the entire law enforcement community. Sections of the training focus on understanding the culture, getting to know the agency, benefits and financial affairs, personal and relationship support, and support structure cycle.

Mobile command center

La Boit, Inc., announces its 30-foot mobile bomb squad command center. La Boit worked closely with law enforcement officials to ensure that the unit would have every feature and function desired. The unit is completely self-sufficient, with an 8,000-watt diesel generator as well as landline inlets. Special features on the exterior of this unit include two removable telescoping tripod 350-watt lights mounted to the rear of the unit. The front and rear bumpers are custom-fabricated with a 16,500-pound winch and D-rings for pull straps built into the front.

Scheduling software

PDSI is estimating that 90-plus public safety agencies used TeleStaff to communicate to and deploy staff in response to the Southern California fires. TeleStaff is an automated scheduling and notification software system used by over 450 public safety agencies across the United States. The system is designed to allow agencies to quickly and efficiently recall personnel by telephone, e-mail, pager, text, and Internet; automatically backfill positions to maintain staffing level requirements due to personnel deployment; automatically deploy additional units to provide added support; and track hours worked for reporting and reimbursement.

Handcuffs
