Body armor


DuPont announces the availability of DuPont Kevlar XP, a new patented technology designed to provide ballistic and trauma protection in a more comfortable body armor. It is engineered to provide a 15 percent reduction in backface deformation with a lighter-weight vest. It also provides layer-to-layer abrasion resistance. Working with body armor manufacturers and end users to better understand emerging needs and to develop solutions that help to protect more lives from increasing threats, designers developed Kevlar XP to protect those who protect us.

Evidence storage


The RAYSICS Climatrol Storage Device is an evidence-packaging solution engineered to provide 360-degree filter ventilated airflow with enhanced physical security features. Materials that were normally subject to decay and degradation can now be safely packaged, sealed, and stored within a constant ambient air flow. Once completely packaged, users can document contents directly on the boxes, ensuring proper handling and security. The inner storage unit is positioned snugly inside the outer unit with made-to-fit filters designed to provide the ultimate storage “climate.” The two MERV Level 8 filters that fit inside the box come with the complete Climatrol Storage Device or can be purchased separately. The larger filter is 10 inches by 24 inches by 1 inch, and the smaller filter is 10 inches by 13 inches by 1 inch.

Ear muffs


MSA left/RIGHT is designed so that the left ear muff differs from the right ear muff for a better fit. These muffs are large enough to fit all ear types and sizes and are available in three noise reduction models: LOW (NRR 21), MEDIUM (NRR 25), and HIGH (NRR 28). Other features include new colors, new comfort headband design, and thin, flexible noise reduction rings.

Handheld PC


Panasonic Computer Solutions Company announces the Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1, an ultramobile PC (UMPC) that integrates the new low-power Intel Atom processor in a rugged handheld computer for use in the field. It is designed to enable remote workers to connect to critical information and applications in real time, improving organizational efficiency, increasing information accuracy, and enabling field-based decision making. It integrates robust features available on a full-size Toughbook PC in a rugged UMPC that can be used anywhere. It has several docking options that expand functionality whether in a vehicle, at a desk, or on the move; operates on the full-function Windows XP and Vista systems; and features a thumb-friendly and always-accessible backlit QWERTY keyboard.

DNA collection swab


Bode Technology announces the launch of a new DNA collection device, the SecurSwab. The SecurSwab is designed to include an integrated desiccant that dries samples during transport and eliminates the need to air-dry most samples. It also includes four unique, matching barcode labels that can easily be applied to the collector packaging or documentation to ensure chain-of-custody control. The cotton tip is a proven collection material for many types of samples.

ID card device


Card Imaging introduces the First Responders ID card system. The system produces full-color plastic cards in 30 seconds. Professional grade photo ID cards are produced on tough credit card–style plastic. Law enforcement and firefighter card designs are included. The card designer tool is used to customize the card for a unique look for your department. Holograms and other security measures can be added to prevent forgeries or manipulation. The system is ideal for issuing cards for child ID, officer badges, and city employee credentials.

Wearable audio/video recording device


The Taser Axon is a tactical networkable computer that combines advanced audio/video recording and capturing capabilities with tactical communications and is designed to be worn. It records audio and video from the visual perspective of the officer, to capture what the officer sees, not only where the patrol car points. It is engineered to be waterproof for use in all weather conditions and is designed to enable interconnectivity between itself and officers’ standard two-way radios.

Gauze


Z-Medica Corporation introduces QuikClot Combat Gauze, tailored to the needs of combat and tactical medical personnel. The new Combat Gauze combines surgical gauze with a proprietary inorganic material that stops arterial and venous bleeding in seconds—even more rapidly in this format than earlier products. This product is designed not to generate heat and to be both inert and nonallergenic. The material can be fitted to any size or shape wound—including penetrating wounds. It is designed to be easily removed once clotting has taken place.

Tactical rifle


Beretta offers the Tikka T3 tactical rifle, engineered for law enforcement and military applications. This rifle comes in both a 20- or 24-inch, cold-hammer forged barrel with a nonreflective black phosphate finish and features synthetic, glass-fiber reinforced copolymer polypropylene stock and a stainless steel, Teflon-coated, two-lug locking bolt. The straight stock features an ambidextrous palm swell, height adjustable cheekpiece, and extra wide fore-end. The adjustable cheekpiece can also be used by left-handed shooters. The length of pull is adjustable by means of buttplate spacers. Sling swivel studs under the fore-end and buttstock are standard. The top of the action comes with a Picatinny rail ready to accept most optic bases and accessories.

Leasing service


Sparta Commercial Services offers municipal and governmental leasing services.
