Multiband radio

Harris RF Communications introduces the next-generation Harris Unity XG-100 Full-Spectrum Multiband Radio for public safety communications. The Unity XG-100 is designed to deliver interoperable communications among federal, state, and local agencies. It offers full-spectrum frequency coverage from 136 to 870 MHz and operates in four public-safety frequency bands, including VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, and 800 MHz. Compliant, in conventional and trunked modes, with Phase 1 of the Project 25 (P25) standard, it is upgradeable via software updates to support evolving Phase 2 P25 standards, future capabilities, and changing communication requirements. Features include extended battery life, noise suppression, GPS receiver for position tracking and rapid response, and secure Bluetooth technology.

Public safety software

SunGard Public Sector announces the release of its Intelligence/Narcotics module for the OSSI Public Safety Suite. Designed to collect classified information, the Intelligence/Narcotics module tracks information and observations regarding ongoing drug or conspiracy investigations; provides a separate, private area to document the investigation within the records management system; and consists of two separate submodules: Intelligence Case Management and Intelligence Investigation Activities. Intelligence Case Management assigns investigations to detectives and tracks the status of investigations. The Intelligence Investigation Activities module records investigative activities and events.

Crime data-sharing software

Bair Software introduces ePolicing ATACRAIDS, a regional crime analysis and data-sharing solution for law enforcement. In a secured, online mapping environment users can view and analyze details about crime across jurisdictional boundaries. Users can also download any selection of crimes for further analysis in ATAC or other crime analysis applications. Designed to be easy to use and budget friendly, ePolicing also includes free public-facing CrimeMaps that communicate limited crime information to the community.

Training/technical assistance

The Southern Police Institute provides education, training, and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies. The Administrative Officers Course is a residence program of study and includes graduate and undergraduate options. Professional development programs are conducted on campus or on-site nationally and internationally. Technical assistance includes department assessments, executive searches, and promotional processes.

Electronic projectile shotgun rounds

TASER International, Inc., announces the self-contained wireless TASER eXtended Range Electronic Projectile (XREP) shotgun rounds. The XREP is a wireless electronic control device (ECD) capable of delivering neuromuscular incapacitation to a maximum range of 100 feet. There are two versions of the XREP - the XREP RL, a “rifled” round and the XREP FL, a “finned” round. The XREP RL is specially designed for use with the TASER X12 LLS by O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., utilizing custom twist rifling optimized for low-velocity rounds. The XREP FL is capable of being fired from any existing smooth bore 12-gauge pump-action shotgun.

Ammunition

Winchester Ammunition offers Ranger Bonded ammunition, which is designed to give officers the edge in the field by allowing them to shoot through barriers to stop a threat. This ammunition features jacket notching, so the bullet expands on impact; a proprietary bonding process, bonding the jacket to the lead alloy inner core to deliver consistent bullet expansion every time; and a contoured jacket thickness to control expansion and overall bullet strength.

Training management software

The Acadis Readiness Suite by Envisage was designed to address the unique challenges of law enforcement training organizations. Inline encryption

EF Johnson Technologies, Inc., introduces the 3e-636S Series of Inline Encryptors designed to provide FIPS 140-2 Level 2 encryption to support the mission-critical demands of civilian and military government customers. The 3e-636S Series is engineered to enable federal agencies seeking to deploy secure wireless local area networks (WLANs) to comply with federal regulations, including the DOD 8100.2 – Use of Commercial Wireless Devices, Services, and Technologies in the Department of Defense (DoD) Global Information Grid (GiG).

Handgun

Sig Sauer, Inc., introduces the P238, in .380 ACP; specifically designed as a concealed carry or backup handgun. The new P238 is engineered to have the same accuracy and reliability as large frame pistols. With an overall length of 5.5 inches, a height of 3.96 inches, and a weight of just under a pound, the P238 is built on an anodized alloy beavertail-style frame with fluted aluminum grips for comfort and a secure hold during rapid-fire usage. The contrast or SIGLITE Night Sights are removable and adjustable for windage. The trigger return spring and sear are redesigned to prevent spring override of the ejector during assembly.

Mobile video surveillance deployment system

Seon Design, Inc., launches the Sherpa, a rapid mobile video surveillance deployment system that can climb a pole by itself. Deployed in fewer than 10 minutes, the Sherpa can deliver a number of pan/tilt/zoom camera heads to the top of existing poles. It can be used for crowd control, covert surveillance, border patrol, and arson prevention. It is designed to be reliable, robust, and all-weather proof. The cameras can be controlled remotely from a single location, by radio transmission (1.2 km), 3G, GSM, Wi-Fi, or other recognized transmission system. Once in place, the camera can remain active for up to 48 hours. Video recording can take place remotely, locally at the camera head, or in both places.

Revision Eyewear announces the Sawfly Eyewear Shooter’s Kit. The Sawfly Eyewear Shooter's Kit offers military-grade eye protection, unrestricted field-of-view, and comes with an interchangeable vermillion lens for crisp targets. The high-contrast vermillion lens provides color recognition and depth perception by reducing glare in cloudy and hazy conditions. The vermillion lens works by filtering out blue light for better contrast. Analytics tool

Command Central, by CrimeReports, is a Web-based internal analytics tool built to support CompStat-style analysis. It is designed to track and enable visualization of crime data through automatically generated graphs, reports, heat maps, and trending charts. Command Central can be used with existing servers, does not require maintenance or update fees, and can integrate in less than 24 hours with any CAD or RMS system.
