he IACP Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its first nationwide fundraising event with the unveiling of a brand new 2012 Harley-Davidson Peace Officer Edition Ultra Classic at the 118th Annual IACP Conference in Chicago, Illinois, October 22–26, 2011.
On Sunday morning, October 23, delegates and attendees who were preparing for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to take place and for the exhibit hall to open were treated to a sneak preview of the gleaming motorcycle that will be awarded to the lucky participant who holds the winning ticket.

“I am thrilled to be at the helm of the Foundation as this exciting fundraiser kicks off,” said Mark A. Marshall, chief of police, Smithfield, Virginia, Police Department; immediate past president, IACP; and incoming chair of the IACP Foundation. “This is really the Foundation’s first opportunity to reach out and touch the membership beyond our fundraising events that take place at conference.”
The motorcycle, which was provided to the Foundation at a special price by Wild Fire Harley-Davidson of Villa Park, Illinois, and sponsored by Intrado Inc., will be awarded during a drawing at IACP headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, on August 1, 2012. Second prize is a Harley-Davidson leather jacket—men’s or women’s style—valued at up to $500, and third prize is a Screamin’ Eagle nylon equipment bag. The jacket and the bag are both generously donated by Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
Tickets are $20 each or six for $100, and only 4,000 tickets in total are available. Proceeds from the raffle will go to support the operations, the programs, and the initiatives of the IACP Foundation, including scholarships for survivors and professional development opportunities for law enforcement command staff.
Ticket sales at IACP 2011 in Chicago alone topped $4,000, and the Foundation hopes to raise between $60,000 and $80,000 if all 4,000 tickets are sold. The board of directors of the Foundation extends its thanks to each and every friend of law enforcement who has supported, or will support, this outstanding chance to invest in the work of the Foundation. ■
