Artificial intelligence (AI) has drawn widespread attention for its potential to generate deepfakes and fuel challenges to digital evidence in court. Equally critical is how police agencies can harness AI internally for efficiency and use as a force multiplier for reports, video footage reviews, intelligence, and investigations.

These tools are not futuristic—they are here now, and deploying them without embracing the challenges of learning the capabilities, costs, and creation of policy is a recipe for decreased success.
