In the heart of Washington, DC, lies the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Wall, a place of solemn dignity where sacrifice is remembered. The smooth marble walls are etched with more than 24,000 names.
Each name belongs to a law enforcement officer who gave his or her life in service to their community. The list continues to grow, and every year during Police Week, an annual candlelight vigil honors the fallen officers whose names have been added.
