But there are concerns that focused, place-based efforts to reduce crime could have negative impacts on public trust in the police, leading to the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing’s recommendation that research “specifically look at the potential for collateral damage of any given strategy on community trust and legitimacy.”2
