It is early March 2026. Outside the residence of New York City’s first Muslim mayor, a known agitator is leading a small anti-Islam protest that has drawn more than five times as many counter-demonstrators. The war in Iran is just a week old. Tensions are high as protesters shout across police barriers and New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers work to keep the opposing sides apart.
